Please note that Hotel Sejour Mint provides a pick-up service upon prior notice if you are traveling by train or bus.
Getting to Hakuba by car is made easy with the help of online navigation. Simply enter the hotel address and follow the provided directions. The journey from central Tokyo usually takes around four hours. The approximate road toll is ¥10,000.
There are two routes to choose from: one via Nagano City and the other via Matsumoto. Both routes have approximately the same distance and travel time. However, if you are traveling on a clear day, it is recommended to take the Matsumoto route. This route offers a picturesque view of Mt. Fuji and the Azumino Valley, with the Japan Alps visible on your left after passing through Matsumoto.
The ALPICO Group operates a bus line from Shinjuku Station Bus Terminal to Hakuba via Matsumoto. The journey takes approximately 5 hours, with ticket prices ranging from ¥4,300 to nearly ¥7,000 depending on the season. Multiple buses are available throughout the day.
Within Hakuba, there are multiple stops, and the one nearest to the hotel (less than a 10-minute walk away) is Hakuba Goryu.
For detailed information, please refer to the ALPICO website, which supports English, Chinese (both simplified and traditional characters), as well as Japanese.
In the 2023-2024 winter season, from December 23 to March 9, ALPICO provides an airport direct service with one bus each day for each Tokyo airport. The bus departs from Narita Airport T3 at 10:56, goes through all terminals, and arrives at Goryu Escal Plaza at 16:48 (10:27 and 16:15 respectively in the reverse direction). From Haneda T3 International Terminal, the bus departs at 7:40 and arrives at Goryu Escal Plaza at 12:58 (10:57 and 16:27 respectively in the reverse direction). The one-way cost is about ¥9,300. For details and the latest information, please consult https://www.alpico.co.jp/en/timetable/hakuba/ (English).
Operated by JHN Travel Ltd, the idea is to take customers from the airport directly to Hakuba (and other ski resorts in Nagao, therefore the name of the service) or vice versa. It runs three buses daily from Narita Airport and Haneda Airport respectively. In Hakuba, it stops at Hakuba Station. It only operates in the snow season.
The cost of the service is ¥9,800 and ¥10,500 for Haneda Airport and Narita Airport respectively. For detailed scheduling and cost, see their homepage https://naganosnowshuttle.com/
There are numerous trains available daily from Tokyo Station to Nagano City, with a travel time of approximately one hour and 20 minutes. Upon arriving at Nagano Station, head to the East Exit to catch the ALPICO bus on the Nagano-Hakuba Line, which will take you to Hakuba Goryu. The bus ride itself takes about one hour and five minutes, resulting in a total travel time of around two and a half hours. However, please keep in mind that additional waiting time for the bus may increase the overall duration of your journey.
The quickest option involves taking the Shinkansen from Tokyo Station, departing at 18:24 and arriving at Nagano City at 19:44. Then, you can catch a bus departing at 20:00, which will arrive at Hakuba Goryu at 20:55 (Hakuba at 21:00).
The total travel time is less than three hours, making it the fastest option available. The cost of the trip amounts to ¥10,540 (¥8,340 for the Shinkansen and ¥2,200 for the bus).
For detailed information about the Shinkansen leg, please visit the official JR website at https://www.eki-net.com/Personal/Top/Index (please note that only Japanese language is supported on this website). For information about the bus leg, you can refer to https://www.alpico.co.jp/en/timetable/nagano/r-nagano-hakuba/ (English and Chinese language options are available on this website as well).
The fastest option in this category is Azusa No. 5, departing from Shinjuku Station at 8:00 and arriving at Hakuba at 11:42. This train provides a direct route, with a fare of ¥8,050. Hakuba Station is approximately a 10-minute car ride away from the hotel. The drawback of Azusa No. 5 is that it operates only once per day.
If the scheduled time is not convenient for you, you have the option to take other Azusa trains to Matsumoto first, and then transfer to the Oito Line to reach Hakuba. The Oito Line stops at Hakuba Kamishiro, which is the nearest train station to the hotel and can be reached within a 10-minute walk. However, please note that this option may involve one or two train transfers. The drawback is that the total travel time approaches five hours, which makes it less appealing compared to taking the bus.
One example with two transfers is taking the 14:00 departure of Azusa No.29 to Matsumoto, and then transferring to the Oito Line bound for Omachi, and at Omach, transfer again, reaching Kamishiro at 18:33. This option results in a total travel time of 4 hours and 33 minutes.
The fare for all these trains is ¥7,720.
